Wajid Recipe (about 20–25 pieces)

Ingredients
500g glutinous rice (washed & soaked 4–6 hours)
400g gula melaka (palm sugar), chopped
150g white sugar
500ml thick coconut milk
2 pandan leaves (knotted)
Pinch of salt

Method
1. Steam glutinous rice until 80% cooked (about 20–25 mins).
2. In a heavy wok, melt gula melaka + white sugar + coconut milk + pandan leaves + salt until it becomes a thick syrup.
3. Remove pandan leaves, then add steamed glutinous rice.
4. Stir continuously on low heat until mixture thickens, glossy, and sticky (this takes time & patience!).
5. Transfer into a greased tray or banana-leaf lined tin.
6. Press evenly, let it cool and set.
7. Cut into diamond or square pieces to serve.
