Gulab Jamun Recipe

Ingredients (for jamun dough):
1 cup milk powder
¼ cup all-purpose flour (maida)
¼ tsp baking soda
2 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
3–4 tbsp milk (warm, adjust as needed)

Ingredients (for sugar syrup):
1½ cups sugar
1½ cups water
4 cardamom pods (slightly crushed)
Few saffron strands (optional)
1 tsp rose water (optional, for aroma)

Steps:
1. Sugar Syrup
Heat sugar and water until dissolved.
Add cardamom, saffron, and rose water.
Simmer for 5–7 minutes, then keep warm.
2. Jamun Dough
In a bowl, mix milk powder, flour, and baking soda.
Add ghee, then slowly add warm milk to form a soft, smooth dough (don’t over-knead).
Rest for 5 minutes, then divide into small balls without cracks.

3. Frying
Heat oil/ghee on low flame.
Fry the balls slowly until golden brown (they should expand).

4. Soaking
Immediately transfer fried jamuns into warm sugar syrup.
Soak for at least 2 hours before serving.
