Homemade Churros with Chocolate Sauce
Ingredients:
1. Milk – ½ cup
2. Water – ½ cup
3. Sugar – 2½ tbsp
4. Salt – ½ tsp
5. Butter – 2 tbsp
6. Flour – 1 cup
7. Oil – for frying
For Serving :
1. Chocolate sauce
2. Caster sugar (optional: mix with cinnamon)
Instructions:
1. In a saucepan, bring milk, water, sugar, salt, and butter to a boil. Remove from heat.
2. Add flour immediately and stir until a dough forms.
3. Transfer dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star nozzle. Rest for 2 minutes.
4. Heat oil in a deep pan. Pipe strips of dough into the oil, cutting with scissors.
5. Fry until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
6. Roll in caster sugar and serve warm with chocolate sauce.
Tips for Perfect Churros
1. Do not overmix the dough—this keeps them light and airy.
2. Maintain oil temperature at medium heat.
Too hot = raw inside
Too cold = soggy or misshaped
3. Test oil with a small dough piece; it should rise slowly and brown evenly.
4. Fry in small batches to keep oil temperature stable
