Six Minute Caramels

Ingredients:

- 1/2 cup salted butter (1 stick, melted)
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon table salt (omit if adding sea salt topping)
- Sea salt for topping (optional)

Directions:

1. Prepare an 8x8 inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper or greasing it lightly.
2. In a medium saucepan, combine the melted butter, light corn syrup, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, and sweetened condensed milk.
3. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir constantly until the mixture comes to a boil.
4. Allow the mixture to boil for 6 minutes, stirring continuously to prevent burning.
5. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and table salt if using.
6. Pour the caramel mixture into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
7. If desired, sprinkle sea salt on top while the caramel is still warm.
8. Let the caramel cool completely at room temperature or refrigerate until firm.
9. Once set, cut into squares and enjoy.
