Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions & Peppers
Ingredients:
1 ½ lbs flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp vegetable oil (for marinating)
For Stir-Fry:
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 onion, sliced
1/2 red bell pepper, sliced
1/2 green bell pepper, sliced
5 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
For Sauce:
¼ cup soy sauce
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (slurry)
2 tbsp brown sugar
½ tsp black pepper
½ cup beef broth
Directions:
In a bowl, toss sliced steak with soy sauce, cornstarch, and a drizzle of oil. Let sit 15–20 minutes. Heat oil in a wok or large skillet. Stir-fry beef in batches for 2–3 minutes until just browned.
In the same skillet, add onion, bell peppers, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry 3–4 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.
Mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, and cornstarch slurry. Pour into skillet, stirring until thickened. Return beef to skillet and toss everything together until well coated in sauce. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
