Easy Chocolate Cake with Sprinkles

EASY CHOCOLATE CAKE 🍫🎂✨

It’s 7pm. Someone needs cake for tomorrow.
You’ve got pantry staples and 10 minutes.

This is that cake. Old-school. Budget-friendly. Soft, fluffy chocolate sponge with simple icing and sprinkles. No fancy layers. No stress.

INGREDIENTS
Cake:
• 2 tbs cocoa powder
• 150g self-raising flour
• 225g caster sugar
• 125g milk
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 30g butter, melted

Icing:
• 150g icing sugar
• 1 tbs cocoa powder
• 1–2 tbs hot water
• Sprinkles (optional... but totally not optional)

METHOD
Preheat oven to 170°C fan. Grease and line a 20cm square tin.
Sift the cocoa and self-raising flour into a bowl.
Add the sugar, milk, eggs, vanilla and melted butter. Beat for 2–3 minutes until smooth.
Pour into the tin and bake for 25–30 minutes, until a skewer comes out with a few crumbs. Cool completely.
For the icing, sift the icing sugar and cocoa into a bowl. Stir in hot water until smooth and spreadable.
Spread over the cooled cake and top with sprinkles.
That’s it. Mix. Bake. Ice. Done.
