Breakfast just got a monster makeover! This “Frankin-Toast” is where sweet, spooky, and silly collide. Think fluffy brioche dipped in green-tinted cinnamon custard, then decorated into little Frankenstein faces with berries and gel. It’s fun for kids to help create, delicious enough for adults to devour, and guaranteed to make your Halloween morning memorable.
Ingredients (makes 2 slices): • 2 slices brioche bread • 2 eggs • 1⅔ cup milk • 5–7 drops green food coloring • ½ tsp cinnamon • Pinch of nutmeg • Black writing gel • Blueberries or blackberries
Instructions: 1. In a bowl, beat eggs. 2. In another bowl, mix milk, food coloring, cinnamon, and nutmeg. 3. Warm a griddle over medium-high heat and spray with nonstick cooking spray. 4. Dip bread into eggs, then into milk mixture, and place on griddle. 5. Turn heat down to medium and cook 4–5 minutes per side, until golden (and green!). 6. Once cooled slightly, decorate into monster faces: • Use the top ½–1 inch of the toast as hair or Frankenstein’s flat top. Fill in loosely with gel, then top with blueberries. • Place two gel dots near the center for eyes, top with blueberries. • Draw on a mouth, scars, or stitches with gel.
🎃 Halloween Fact: Frankenstein’s monster first appeared in Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel Frankenstein. Shelley was just 18 years old when she began writing what many consider the first true science-fiction novel—proving spooky brilliance can strike at any age.
👻 Spooky Serving Idea: Serve your Frankin-Toast on a dark plate with a dusting of powdered sugar “fog” around the edges. You can even create a full “monster family” by decorating each slice differently—Frankenstein, a mummy, a vampire, and a pumpkin!
