INGREDIENTS 8 cups All Purpose Flour 1 cup caster sugar 8 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp baking soda 500g cold unsalted butter 3 eggs 2 cups cold buttermilk 1/2 tsp salt or less 1 Tbsp Vanilla or Lemon essence
PREPARATION In a large bowl sift in flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and salt. Whisk well.
Add butter. Rub it in using your finger tips until you get a crumbly mixture.
In a small bowl add cold buttermilk from the fridge, eggs, vanilla. Mix together. Pour this mixture in the flour mixture.
Mix just to combine the wet and dry ingredients together(don't over mix). Then transfer the dough to a slightly floured surface.
Spread the dough and slightly flatten it using a rolling pin or your palm .
Dip your favourite cookie shape cutter in flour as you cut out each piece. Place on a prepared baking tray.
Brush the top with egg wash .
Bake in a preheated at 180ºC- 200ºC for 18 - 20minutes depegnding on your oven, or until the scones are slightly golden brown on top. Enjoy😋 #sconesrecipe #scones #bakingscones #southafrica #fyp
