Ingredients (Frosting): • 8 oz (225g) cream cheese (room temperature) • ½ cup unsalted butter (room temperature) • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar (or more if needed) • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round 9-inch cake pan (or 2 small ones for layers). 2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. 3. In another bowl, mix buttermilk, vinegar, and vanilla extract. 4. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add oil, then eggs one at a time. Mix in food coloring. 5. Gradually alternate adding dry and wet mixtures into the butter mixture, starting and ending with the flour mix. 6. Pour into pan(s) and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely. 7. For the frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat until fluffy. 8.
