Ingredients:
- 8 slices of thick-cut bacon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 8 slices of bread
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Butter for cooking
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with foil. Place a wire rack on top of the baking sheet.
In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cayenne pepper. Coat each slice of bacon in the brown sugar mixture and place on the wire rack.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until the bacon is crispy and caramelized. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
Spread the cream cheese mixture onto 4 slices of bread, then top with the candied bacon and the remaining bread slices to make sandwiches. In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract.
Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides. Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt a knob of butter.
Cook each sandwich for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and the cream cheese is melted. Serve the stuffed French toast warm and enjoy the chaos of flavors in every bite!
