Festive Almond-Glazed Italian Christmas Cookies
Italian Christmas Cookies
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon almond extract
2 teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup powdered sugar
2-3 tablespoons milk
Sprinkles for decoration
Directions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cream the Butter and Sugar:
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until it's light and fluffy.
Add Eggs and Extracts:
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla and almond extracts.
Mix Dry Ingredients:
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix this dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
Shape the Cookies:
Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them about 2 inches apart on the baking sheet. Use the bottom of a glass to gently flatten each ball.
Bake the Cookies:
Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Make the Glaze:
In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar with milk until smooth. Dip the top of each cookie into the glaze and add sprinkles on top.

Let the glaze set before serving or packaging the cookies.
