🥖 November 5: Buttery Dinner Rolls

Warm, golden, and soft enough to melt in your hand — dinner rolls are the peacekeepers of the Thanksgiving table. They soak up the gravy, make the perfect leftover sandwich, and somehow always disappear first. Fresh from the oven, brushed with butter, they’re little clouds of comfort that say, “You’re home.”

Fun Fact: The very first dinner roll recipes appeared in the late 1700s, when bakers in England began shaping small, soft buns for individual servings — a novelty at the time!

In many families, the rolls are the first thing to hit the table — and the first thing snuck before grace. Some even have a “roll runner” (usually one of the kids!) who delivers baskets around the table before everyone digs in.
