Classic Vanilla Layer Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients:
For the cake: • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder • 1/2 tsp salt • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar • 4 large eggs • 1 tbsp vanilla extract • 1 cup whole milk
For the frosting: • 8 oz cream cheese, softened • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened • 3 cups powdered sugar • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions: 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 8-inch round pans. 2. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. 3. In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla. 4. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk, mixing just until combined. 5. Divide batter into pans. Bake 25–28 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely. 6. Beat frosting ingredients until smooth. Frost and stack cooled cake layers. Smooth the outside and decorate as desired.
